Based on requests from musicians around the world, we've decided to offer a data recovery cassette for the Ensoniq ESQ-1 synthesizers. This should appeal to those of you who need to get your ESQ back up and running after its Lithium cell has died. Several banks are included, culled from multiple tapes onto a single brand-new cassette.

Q. Can this tape help me to recover my Ensoniq ESQ after the internal lithium battery dies?
A. Yes!
Q. Will this tape work with an ESQ-M or the SQ-80?
A. The patches would run, but to my knowledge, only the ESQ-1 has a cassette tape interface. So the answer is, regrettably, no.
Q. How do I use this with my ESQ-1?
A. Ensoniq's manual tells you how.
Q) Do I get a free synthesizer along with this cassette?
A) NO! This is just a cassette with program data for this model synthesizer.
But since most people buy a new synth to get new sounds, you can pump more life into your vintage gear by purchasing the collection of sound data that is available here.
Q) How do I get these sounds into my (other make) synthesizer?
A) It cannot be done! This program data will only work for the model specified above. Think of a synth as a computer -- it will only run the programs that were made for it.
Q) You just grabbed this stuff from the internet. I could do that!
A) Nope -- I carefully recorded the audio into a professional model Tascam cassette deck, and carefully set the levels, running through various settings for over an hour until I got the patch data to verify as running at proper volume levels -- all in order to make this work easier for you. So just buy my cassette already. It's under $20!
Q) Do you have demos that we can hear?
A) There are no demo audio files yet, and I have no idea when my line of sample dvd's will be available for purchase. You'll have to check back at my ebay store.
